The process of making spagyric extracts typically involves three main steps:
Separation (Solutio): This phase involves breaking down the raw plant material, often using a solvent like alcohol or water, to extract the essential oils, volatile compounds, and other soluble constituents. This step represents the dissolution or separation of the plant's components.
Purification (Coagulatio): After separation, the remaining plant material is incinerated to ash. This ash contains mineral salts and other inorganic components. The ash is then purified by dissolving it in water and filtering out impurities. This purification step symbolizes the purging or cleansing of the extracted material.
Recombination (Congelatio): The purified ash, which contains essential minerals and salts, is reintegrated with the extracted plant solution. This recombination process aims to reunite the volatile and fixed components of the plant, creating a more complete and potent remedy. This final product is considered to embody the essence of the plant in a more concentrated and balanced form.
